‘In the Seashell Hum’ is a deeply engaging mental health play by Adipo Sidang’ (author of Parliament ofOwls). The play explores in a profound way the weight of mental illness on a creative (inspired by therising cases of mental health issues in the creative sector, work place, domestic settings etc.); it lays bearin a sensitive way the weight of mental illness and what this means to the loved ones of the patient.
Inthis play, Baraka – a visual artist, oscillates in a multi-layered world firmly grasping at figments cloisteredin his inventive mind as he battles voices, strange things, and alcoholism. In this world, he is not only avisual artist but also a soldier battling PTSD. As an experimental lover of IT, he finds solace in his art and IT skills, as he pursues the elusive truth.
